I love reading books, and this one was a favorite! No More Perfect Moms. I pretend to not be a Perfectionist….but ask my family and they will roll their eyes! So I am a recovering perfectionist! Part of being a perfectionist is trying to maximize every moment and make everything as efficient as possible.
But as a mom, is that really possible?
As a human, is that really possible?
Or does it just make me frustrated and make those around me stressed?
“Hurry up, Lets go!” Sadly, I say these words too often.
One suggestion from Jill Savage is including margins in our life. Look at any book….are there words from top to bottom, left to right? No….That is because it helps us read with white space! So, our lives need margins.
Look at your schedule….do you see 5 extra minutes? What can I squeeze in there? Or should it be can I open up 5 minutes?
However, the wise decision, is to live your life with margins, extra space. As a mom, you will have interruptions. If we don’t have extra time, our response will be less than desirable!
Let’s include some Grace and Space in our schedules. Lets not push ourselves, our kids, our spouses so hard that we create extra stress. This is a challenge for me!
Let’s leave the house 5 minutes earlier.
Let’s focus on the child right in front of me, instead of multi-tasking with my phone at the same time.
Let’s stop distractions of TV, to engage with our whole heart on a conversation.
Let’s take something out of the tight schedule to allow us to enjoy the car ride to our destination.
Let’s allow real life to happen! Otherwise we will miss it!
There are some beautiful moments with beautiful people that will happen today, slow down and enjoy them!
